How the CPS test works
- Choose a duration: 5, 10 or 30 seconds.
- Tap the area once to start the timer, then keep tapping until time runs out.
- When time is up you see your CPS, total taps and a rating.
CPS (clicks per second) is your total taps divided by the test length. 71 taps in 10 seconds is 7.10 CPS. Personal bests and statistics are kept separately for each duration.

The ratings are this site’s own guide for tests taken in a web browser. Short tests tend to give higher CPS, and 30-second tests are lower as your hand tires.

Why your results change
- Test length: 5 seconds tests burst speed and 30 seconds tests stamina, so the same person scores differently.
- Fingers and grip: One finger versus alternating two fingers makes a big difference. Holding a phone with both hands is steadier.
- Device: Touchscreen response and how stiff a mouse button is affect how easy it is to tap.
- Fatigue and warm-up: Warm hands tend to be faster, tired hands slower.

- Do not press too hard; keep a steady rhythm.
- Put your phone on a table or hold it firmly with both hands.
- In the 30-second test, pace yourself instead of sprinting from the start.
Frequently asked questions
What is an average CPS?
Tapping with one finger, around 6–7 clicks per second is often used as a typical figure. This page treats 5 to under 7 CPS as “typical”. Alternating two fingers is usually faster.
Are results different on a phone and a computer?
Yes. On a phone you tap the screen directly, while on a computer you press a mouse button, so the movement and effort differ. Compare results on the same device and duration.
Can I use two fingers or both hands?
This test counts every touch or press on the area. Tapping with several fingers in turn counts each tap once. When comparing with friends, use the same rules to keep it fair.
Can I get faster?
As you get used to the motion and relax, your count often rises. Tapping hard for a long time can strain your hand or fingers, so take breaks.
Is my result sent anywhere?
When you finish a test, the score calculated from your CPS, the test duration, your device type (computer, phone or tablet) and the page language are sent. No name or email is collected, and IP addresses are not stored with scores. Unfinished tests are not sent. Your personal best is stored only in this browser.
